I’m Mathew Jedeikin and I’m a progressive Independent running for Congress.
Why I’m Running
  • To unite all of California’s members in the House of Representatives, regardless of traditional party affiliation.
  • To bring attention to issues that shouldn’t be viewed as partisan. For instance: food and shelter as a basic human right.
  • To focus on improvements in my local community that will have a direct impact on the lives of everyone living in California’s 6th Congressional district.
  • to immediate create job opportunities for every American.

National Priorities
  • Access to food and shelter as a basic human right.
  • Healthy, breathable air for all of our children.
  • A safe America for everyone.
  • A movement towards a global reduction in meat consumption.
  • Equality, compassion, and understanding.
  • Wide-scale education improvements to better prepare the future work force of this country.
  • Livable full-time wages and executive salaries tied to employee compensation.
  • Investments in green technology

Local Issues
  • Strong support to fully rebuild a post-pandemic Sacramento.
  • Both immediate and long term solutions to Sacramento’s growing homelessness crisis.
  • Better pay for our teachers and technology in our classrooms.
  • Beautiful streets and public transportation designed for all of us to enjoy.
  • Improved levies and superior flood prevention.
  • Relief for local businesses and community members facing long-term unemployment.
  • Financial support for the expansion of the Sacramento Zoo.
  • Equal access to public benefits for everyone in Sacramento.

National Priorities
Access to food and shelter as a basic human right.
Like the air that we breathe, and the water that we drink, humans require food to survive. And like water and air, our planet provides us food. I’m blessed in that I can go to my yard to get eggs from my chickens, fresh fruit from my trees, and herbs from my garden. But not every American has access to that, or the ability to order groceries to their door on demand. Millions of Americans face hunger, and they simply should not.

Humans also need shelter. We need a roof over our head for our family’s health and safety. Homelessness is an issue for not just California, but the entire country. And we will never find a sustainable solution in conversations about the homeless crisis with phrases such as “not in my backyard.” Access to shelter is a basic human right, as is food, water, and air
Healthy, breathable air for all of our children.
Everyone in California experienced what it’s like when the air outside is not healthy to breathe. As climate change continues to grow into a problem that will have a long-lasting impact on our planet, we need a long-term solution to wildfire prevention.
A safe America for everyone.
Sadly, not every person in America feels safe right now. Too many Black families worry for the safety of their children, with worry that an exchange with law enforcement officers could result in death. Too many Americans who immigrated to this county worry about identification laws, or family members who live in fear of being deported from the county they love. Our enforcement agencies have an opportunity to reinvent and improve themselves to do a better job of making every American feel safe.
A movement towards a global reduction in meat consumption.
Consumption of meat has had a devastating impact on our beautiful planet. Wildlife dense rainforests are being burnt in order to farm beef, to then be shipped across the globe. Animal to human transmission of diseases can be linked to the consumption of that meat. The United States currently has the opportunity to become the leader in a movement to eat less meat, and to inspire more countries around the world to follow our lead.
Equality, compassion, and understanding.
Acceptance of those who differ from ourselves is no longer acceptable. Instead, Federal laws need to move in the direction of equality, compassion, and understanding. It doesn’t make us flawed to admit we’ve made mistakes in the past. Rather, it’s the only way to move forward.
Wide-scale education improvements to better prepare the future workforce of this country.
Our children are our future. They need to be receiving educations that will prepare them to thrive in a world much different than those who grew up in generations prior. Classrooms need to be provided with technologically advanced tools, teachers need to be compensated more appropriately and also armed with funds to ensure their classrooms thrive.
Livable full-time wages and executive salaries tied to employee compensation.
Anyone working a full-time job in this country should earn a livable wage. Period. However, that doesn’t mean hard work shouldn’t be rewarded. In fact, executives of large corporations should be allowed to earn large sums of money - but the big if here - is that their salaries should appropriately correspond to the lowest earning full-time employees of their company.
Investments in green technology to immediate create job opportunities for every American.
Major car manufacturers have already committed to retiring combustion engines within the next fifteen years. Solar and wind technologies have advanced beyond belief, and now is the time to put Americans to work in expanding our green energy infrastructure.
Local Issues
Strong support to fully rebuild a post-pandemic Sacramento.
Reminders of the pandemic are everywhere we look. Office buildings boarded up, restaurants closed permanently, and empty sidewalks in areas that were once booming. But the people of Sacramento are strong. We are resilient. We are ready to take on the challenges of the future. But in order to do so we need the support of both local and Federal governments.
Both immediate and long term solutions to Sacramento’s growing homelessness crisis.
The time for action is now. No one living in Sacramento should have to live on the streets without a roof over their head. By addressing the problems that lead someone to homelessness, and providing sustainable solutions to providing shelter, the entire city can breathe a sigh of relief at night knowing everyone in our city is sleeping in a warm bed..
Better pay for our teachers, and technology in our classrooms.
Educators play a key role in preparing future generations for employment, and they should be better compensated for this valuable work they do. Likewise, they should be well-equip for incorporating technology into their classrooms.
Beautiful streets and public transportation designed for all of us to enjoy.
Our river city is full of magnificent trees, flowers, and vegetation. To preserve it, and keep our roads and highways less crowded, public transportation needs to be better suited to serve a wider range of the population.
Improved levees and superior flood prevention.
As climate change stands to increase the number of storms we endure, our city needs to move quickly to ensure that our levees are ready to handle them. No one wants their home flooded, or to see a friend, neighbor, or relative experience that devastation. We must prepare Sacramento for the storms of the future.
Relief for local businesses and community members facing long-term unemployment.
Over the past year businesses have had to lay off employees, and family members had to leave work to care for children without in person education, or family members who were sick. Relief for these Americans must continue, to instill confidence that there is help as we all enter these ever uncharted waters.
Financial support for the expansion of the Sacramento Zoo.
The Sacramento zoo is a pillar for the community. It evokes fond childhood memories for so many of us living in Sacramento, and many who no longer live her, or simply visited Saczoo during a vacation in Sacramento. However, over the decades it has lost several animals that simply may never be able to return to ever evolving requirements for animal safety. The zoo needs support to expand, and I will make it a priority.
Equal access to public benefits for everyone in Sacramento.
From parks and public libraries, to polling stations, to access to government support, or even food and water. These basic essentials for a happy life should be available equally to every individual living in this incredible city.
